Bui Ngoc Hong, Partner, LNT & Partners

Mr. Hong is a Partner of LNT & Partners. He is in charge of M&A, corporate and commercial matters.

Mr. Hong assists investors to achieve commercial objectives in investment in Vietnam, especially on restructuring, acquisitions, merger control, contracts, investigation, and dispute settlement. When a dispute arises, Mr. Hong serves as a mediator or an arbitrator for his clients.

Dang Dieu Phuong (Paige), Arbitrator, Director of External Affairs - Vietnam Traders Arbitration Centre (VTA); General Counsel - Growth Technologies Co., Ltd.

Phuong Dang is a seasoned in-house lawyer with over sixteen years of experience. Currently, she collaborates closely with the executive team at Growth Technologies, specializing in technology-related legal areas. Her expertise in managing legal risks ensures the company's sustainable operations and expansion. In addition to her role at Growth Technologies, Phuong has served as an arbitrator at the Vietnam Traders Arbitration Center (VTA). As of July 2024, she has taken on the role of Director of External Affairs at VTA, where she plays a pivotal role in developing cooperation between VTA and other arbitration centers, both domestically and internationally.

Dr. Oliver Massmann, Partner-General Director, Duane Morris Vietnam LLC

Dr. Oliver Massmann is an International Attorney at Law and a Financial Accountant and Auditor. Dr. Oliver Massmann received his PhD with Major in International Business Law. Dr. Massmann has over 20 years’ experience working as commercial lawyer in Vietnam. Dr. Massmann is fluent in Vietnamese language, negotiation and presentation level.

Dr. Massmann practices in the area of corporate international taxation and on power/water projects, matters related to oil and gas companies and telecoms, privatization and equitization, mergers and acquisitions, and general commercial matters for multinational clients in relation to investment and doing business in Vietnam. The European Commission and the EU Trade Delegation in Vietnam has selected as the lead advisor Dr. Oliver Massmann and his team to advise and assist in a project to support the implementation of the EU - Vietnam Free Trade Agreement ("EVFTA"), one of the most important Free Trade Agreements for Vietnam. 

Dr. Massmann is currently working on several investment projects as well as taxation matters and advising the Ministry of Electrical Power on building the power generation infrastructure in Myanmar. The National Assembly of Vietnam invited Dr. Oliver Massmann to present on the Impact of the Trans- Pacific Partnership Agreement on Vietnam, June 2016. Dr. Oliver Massmann is the first foreigner ever to present in Vietnamese language to Members of the National Assembly of Vietnam.

Dr. Massmann is holding a German Judge Degree. He has worked as arbitrator in International Arbitration and Mediation centres in Asia and Europe during the last 20 years. Dr. Massmann has represented many clients in arbitration proceedings and Disputes in these Arbitration centres. Dr. Massmann is a 1994 graduate of Bochum Law University, first state exam and Ministry of Justice, Duesseldorf Germany, second state exam 1997. He is holding a LLM degree in international taxation from St. Thomas University Florida- United State of America. He is certified as International Financial Accountant and Auditor by College of Birmingham. He is admitted to the Bar Association in Berlin and a licensed foreign lawyer in Vietnam.

Le Nguyen Quoc Sy, Legal Director, Sovico Group

Susan Do, Head of Legal & Compliance, F88 Joint Stock Company

Susan is an experienced director with a demonstrated history of working in the telecommunication, finance, entertainment, energy, real estate, retail, e-commerce and banking industry. She has strong professional education with a Master of Laws (LLM) from Hanoi National University and acting as a private lawyer focused on International Business, M&A, Trade, Tax, Contract, Labor, Corporate, Dispute Settlement, Capital Market and Banking Laws.

Currently, Susan is a General Counsel for F88 Joint Stock Company and have managed a team of over twenty members to consult and control the legal matters on main finance business of the Group. She has contributed the successful deals to call the investment fund (series C) with $50M and get the overseas loans roughly $100M in 2022. She was part of setting up the compliance frames and managed all internal regulation documents in the Group.

Susan was awarded the internal unit with exceptional high quality corporates services and corporate governance.

Thai Gia Han, Associate and Co-Head of IP & TMT Practice Group, Indochine Counsel

Thai Gia Han is a seasoned legal professional with a passion for technology, innovation, and business. Joining Indochine Counsel in 2019, Han is now an Associate and Co-Head of the firm’s IP & TMT Practice Group. She specializes in privacy, data protection, cybersecurity, e-commerce, fintech, IP and technology related matters, tech M&A deals, and corporate & commercial transactions. Han’s insights on tech/TMT matters appear in publications by Indochine Counsel, the Vietnam Investment Review (VIR), the Asian Business Law Institute (ABLI), the Law Firm Network (LFN), and Asia IP.

Thuan Pham, Director, Andersen

Thuan is an experienced tax adviser with over 20 years of work experience. He has advised on tax aspects of Vietnam market entry for major MNCs, tax implications of large construction projects, large-scale acquisitions, and on several infrastructure development projects in Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos. 

Among others, his track-record includes advising funds and manufacturers on their investments in Vietnam, overseeing the team that reorganized supply chain for a cosmetic multinational in Vietnam, including customs duty aspects. He specializes in corporate tax strategies for multinationals, banks and investment funds, in particular in relation to cross-border taxation, including transfer pricing aspects for businesses operating in multiple jurisdictions. 

Tran Ngoc Thuy, Legal Affairs Head, Cathay United Bank

Thuy is Legal Head of Cathay United Bank (CUB), a member of Cathay Financial Holdings (CFH) with strong presence in Vietnam, including CUB, Cathay Life, Cathay Insurance and Indovina Bank. CFH is the first Taiwanese financial holding company offering holistic financial products, and corporate & retail banking services/products in Vietnam.

Prior to joining CUB, Thuy headed legal affairs at Maybank and was a legal counsel at BNP Paribas. She previously worked at LNT & Partners, then Baker & McKenzie.

Troy Schooneman, Partner and Head of the International Practice, Kudun and Partners

Vu Le Bang, Partner & HCMC Office Co-Representative, Branch Office of Nishimura & Asahi (Vietnam) Law Firm in HCMC

Mr. Bang is a partner of Nishimura Asahi Vietnam law firm, with more than 15 years of experience as a lawyer. He joined the Ho Chi Minh City Office in 2010, as the first Vietnamese lawyer in the Ho Chi Minh City Office, and gained experience in a variety of diverse cases, including huge, complex projects. Mr. Bang specializes in inbound investments, corporate & commercial matters, M&A, banking, real estate property & construction, and labour. He also has significant experience in providing advice regarding unfair competition, securities, capital market transactions, project financing transactions, infrastructure projects, and energy projects. Before joining the firm, Mr. Bang gained professional experience in both a law firm and working with multinational corporations. He has been a regular contributor to a number of law-related magazines and has actively participated in the legal training of law students, having been a law lecturer in Vietnam since 2009. Mr. Bang is a 2001 graduate of Hanoi University of Law (LL.B.) and received an LL.M. from the Transnational Law & Business University in Seoul, Korea in 2006.
